At the Church of Our Mother of Perpetual Help in Saigon, at 8:00 AM on June 29, 2023, the Redemptorist Province of Vietnam joyfully welcomed 12 new professed brothers and 16 final professed brothers.
The Mass was presided over by Father Provincial Dominic Nguyen Duc Thong, C.Ss.R. This was the first time he accepted the profession of vows from the brothers in his new role as the Provincial Superior for the new term of 2023-2026.
Father Joseph Do Dinh Tu, the Vice Provincial, in his homily during the Mass, emphasized, “Following Christ is the common calling of all believers. These professed brothers do not walk a separate path; rather, they are called to walk closely with Jesus Christ. Walking closely with the Savior is expressed through the profession of the three evangelical counsels: poverty, chastity, and obedience.”
And another joyful news, on June 30, 2023, Bishop Joseph Do Quang Khang of the Diocese of Bac Ninh ordained nine deacons to the priesthood and conferred the transitional diaconate on 11 candidates from the Redemptorist Province of Vietnam.
In his message, Bishop Joseph expressed his gratitude to the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer for their humble and fruitful presence in the Diocese of Bac Ninh over the years, in their missionary work among the local people. He also expressed his hope that the newly ordained priests and transitional deacons would live closely and humbly among God’s people, that would reflect their intimate role as Jesus Good Shepherd.
Father Provincial Dominic Nguyen Duc Thong, C.Ss.R., on behalf of the Redemptorist Province of Vietnam, thanked Bishop Joseph for his presence and for conferring the ordinations today. Also, Father Dominic expressed his gratitude for the precious presence of the priests, religious brothers and sisters, benefactors, and all those who attended the Mass today in solidarity with the Congregation and the newly ordained.
