The city of Cochabamba, Bolivia, was the venue for the first part of the Provincial Assembly of the Redemptorist Missionaries of the Province of Bolivia, Peru. From May 7th to 10th, 2024, we met in the retreat house of Callajchullpa.
Fr. César Torres, Coordinator of the Conference of Latin America and the Caribbean, accompanied our assembly and spiritual retreat. Enrique López, Provincial Consultor of the Province Pedro Donders, wisely gave us a talk focused on the document Lineamenta: To maintain the Redemptorist character in our parishes and sanctuaries. He encouraged us to work on and deepen partnership in mission, an aspect we need to work on and deepen.
All the priests of the Province took part in this great meeting: 39 perpetually professed and one brother in temporary vows. It is also important to mention the presence of the Lay missionaries of the Most Holy Redeemer, who expressed their desires, wishes, and proposals for continuing to accompany the mission of our Redemptorist family in an active and participative way.
The purpose of the assembly was not to make decisions. Still, it was an opportunity to share aspects related to the implementation of the Province’s restructuring plan. It is important to note that contributions have been received in every sense, which shows the interest and concern for the growth of the Province.
Another aspect to highlight is that each secretariat has presented the directories. It can be noticed that there has been significant progress, thanks to the explanation of the work developed during these three months.
For all of us, it has been a time to share experiences, express our concerns, and commit ourselves to supporting this new journey. We have shared during these days in a spirit of fraternity. The group activities have opened new doors to getting to know and meet our colleagues, to get to know each other better, and to commit ourselves in the light of our missionary spirit.
