On July 2nd 2024, at the Shrine of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Saigon, Vietnam, the Redemptorist Order of Vietnam held a profession ceremony for 10 novices making their first profession and 12 brothers making their perpetual profession.

The Provincial Dominic Nguyễn Đức Thông presided over the Mass and accepted the vows of the brothers. During his homily, Father Joseph Nguyễn Ngọc Bích, the prefect of students of St. Alphonsus Theologate, encouraged the brothers to become missionaries of hope in today’s world.

On the following day, July 3rd, the ordination Mass for priests and deacons of the Redemptorist Province of Vietnam also took place at the same location. The Mass was presided over by Bishop Louis Nguyễn Anh Tuấn of the Diocese of Hà Tĩnh. 12 deacons were ordained as priests and 13 brothers were ordained as deacons, including four brothers from the M’nông, Tày, and Jarai ethnic groups in the Central Highlands and Northwest regions of Vietnam.

Bishop Tuấn praised the dedication of the Redemptorist brothers in the missionary regions and urged the newly ordained to continue the mission of evangelization handed down by previous generations, so that all people may come to know the love of God.

With today’s ordination of deacons and priests, the Redemptorist Province of Vietnam now has a total of 386 members, including 268 priests, 63 brothers who have made perpetual vows, and 55 brothers who have not yet made perpetual vows.

Please pray for the Redemptorists in Vietnam, so that they may always remain faithful and dedicated to the mission of proclaiming the Gospel according to the spirituality and charism of our founder, St. Alphonsus.
