The Committed Christian Communities EAS, founded in 1958 in Paris by the Redemptorist Priest Antonio Hortelano Alcazar, held from 15 to 21 July 2024 in the city of Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia, its VIII meeting of the Permanent Council and its XI International Meeting with the participation of members of their communities from 8 countries: Mexico, El Salvador, Honduras, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Spain and the hosts Bolivia.

The central message of the meeting was to be “salt and light for the world,” which was masterfully presented by Fr. Román Oscar Ibarra C.Ss.R., Fr. Boris Calzadilla C.Ss.R. Frs. José Luis Bartolomé C. Ss. R. (Spain), and Omar Ventura López (Mexico).

In this International Meeting, the couple, composed of Galo Flor and Mercy Lopez de Flor from Guayaquil, Ecuador, ended their term as International Coordinators (2019-2024), giving way to the election of the new coordinating couple. Dignity fell on Dario Morales and Isabel Coronado from the city of Tupiza, Bolivia, for the period 2024-2029.

In this meeting also, Father Boris Calzadilla presented his resignation to continue being the spiritual advisor of our communities due to his multiple activities to be carried out in his new functions as Provincial of Bolivia-Peru, for which the Permanent Council thanked him for his invaluable support that he always provided to our communities.

This same Permanent Council, with the permission of the Redemptorist Provincial, Father Boris Calzadilla, requested that the new international advisor of our EAS communities be Father Román Ibarra, who accepted with much availability.

We wish the new International Committee the greatest success in accompanying our communities around the world, may the Holy Spirit guide them at all times.

In Christ Jesus,

Galo Flor and Mercy Lopez de Flor
