The Jubilee of 2025, an “ordinary” jubilee that occurs every 25 years, is set to be a massive global event centered around themes of hope, faith, and renewal. The yearlong celebration will begin with the opening of the Holy Door at St. Peter’s Basilica in December 2024 and run through January 2026. Pope Francis has designated 2024 as a year of prayer to prepare spiritually for this Holy Year.
Key events include the Jubilee of the World of Communication in January, the Jubilee of Families in May, and the Jubilee of Young People in August, among others. Special focus will be given to various groups like military personnel, healthcare workers, volunteers, and migrants, ensuring wide participation across society. Each event is tailored to promote reflection on the participants’ roles in promoting unity, peace, and spiritual growth.
Pilgrims attending the event will be able to register online via the official Jubilee 2025 website starting in September 2024. Rome is preparing for a major influx of visitors with extensive infrastructure improvements including enhanced transport systems, new pedestrian corridors, and upgrades to public facilities.
