The Synod of Bishops of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church accepted the resignation from the pastoral government of the Eparchy of Sokal-Zhovkva of the Ukrainians, submitted by H.E. Monsignor Mykhaylo Koltun, C.Ss.R., and elected as Bishop of the same Eparchy H.E. Monsignor Petro Loza, C.Ss.R., until now Auxiliary Bishop of the same Eparchy.
Curriculum vitae
Bishop Petro Loza, C.Ss.R., was born on June 3, 1979, in Kolodentsi, in the Lviv region. In 1997 he entered the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer, where he made his perpetual vows in 2003. He began his priestly formation at the Seminary of the Redemptorist Fathers in Lviv and completed his theological studies at the University of Innsbruck in Austria.
He was ordained a priest on August 26, 2007.
He held the following positions: Assistant Parish Priest in Vinnytsa; Parish Administrator in Hnizdychiv-Kohavyno; Provincial Councilor in his own religious congregation (2011-2014); Parish Administrator of Saints Peter and Paul in Chernihiv and, at the same time, chaplain of the two prisons in the same city (2014-2018).
Elected auxiliary bishop of the Eparchy of Sokal-Zhovkva of Ukraine on April 12, 2018, he received episcopal ordination on July 12 of the following year.
The Head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, His Beatitude Sviatoslav, with the consent of the Synod, also accepted the resignation from the pastoral government of the Archiepiscopal Exarchate of Donetsk, submitted by H.E. Monsignor Stepan Meniok , C.Ss.R, who has turned 75 years old and has elected as Archbishop Exarch of the same Exarchate H.E. Monsignor Maksym Ryabukha, SDB, currently auxiliary bishop of the same Exarchate.
