The General Government made a canonical visit to the Vice-Province of Saint Gerard Majella (Madagascar) from 16th October to 13th November 2024. Fr. Nicolas I. AYOUBA, General Consultor, and Fr. Noel K. SOTTIMA, COREAM Coordinator, accompanied by Fr. BARY Théophile and Fr. Ferdinand, visited each community with the aim of strengthening the Redemptorist identity in all its aspects: community, pastoral, educational, economic, and fraternal. Another purpose of the visit was to prepare the Vice-Province for the process of reconfiguration of COREAM.

In the afternoon of Tuesday 12th November 2024, a meeting was organized with the RLA (Redemptorists Lay Associate) to encourage them to a deeper commitment and participation in the common mission of the Congregation.

A General Assembly was held on 13th November 2024, during which the Superior General, Fr. Rogério Gomez, delivered a message of hope to all the confreres present. His speech focused on the efforts to strengthen fraternity, to improve co-responsibility and to reflect on the formation and promotion of the brothers’ vocation. Special attention was also given to the process of reconfiguration of our Congregation and to the implementation of policies for the protection of minors and vulnerable adults.

Father Nicolas presided over a votive Mass in honour of the Holy Spirit at the end of the Assembly. The liturgy was led by the students.

The visit concluded in a spirit of fraternity in which all the confreres experienced a genuine sharing of hope and concern for the future of the Congregation: Missionaries of hope in the footsteps of the Redeemer.

Fr. Luis Armando RAVELOJAONA, CSsR.
