On December 13, 2024, four of our young Redemptorists made perpetual profession in the Parish of the Most Holy Redeemer, Mexico City: Julio César Olguín Antonio, CSsR (Veracruz, San Luis Potosí), Juan Luis Rivera Arellano, CSsR (Michoacán), César Osvaldo Osuna Alfaro, CSsR (San Luis Potosí), Margarito Robles Morales, CSsR (Oaxaca, Reynosa)
Father Joaquín Frausto Nájera CSsR, Provincial Superior of Mexico, presided over the Eucharist, received the profession of vows and in the homily said that the perpetual profession of these confreres is a treasure for the Congregation and for the entire Church, because it is a story of grace.
“Consecrated life is a sign for the world and for the Church that reminds us of what must be loved most, which is the love of God. Giving one’s life in the mission, being missionaries of hope in the footsteps of the Redeemer. These are the Redemptorists… Vows are a defined way of undertaking the path of following the Lord,” he said.
The following day, December 14, in the same parish of the Most Holy Redeemer, the four confreres were ordained deacons for the Universal Church. Monsignor Enrique Samaniego, auxiliary bishop of Mexico City, celebrated the ordination of the four confreres as deacons and insisted in his homily on recalling the profound meaning of Christmas: that Christ takes form in us.
“The biblical passage of the prophet can be applied to every Christian, to accept feelings and attitudes in order to allow oneself to be formed by God and to announce the Good News,” he said, and then continued: “God has been calling these four brothers of ours for some time to form them. God had chosen them and has formed them in a specific way in the Redemptorist formation house.”
The ceremony was broadcast live by Mundo Católico Television Network, which follows the most important events in Mexico City.
