On December 19, 2024, the Alphonsian Social Service Centre, Kerala, India, celebrated the completion and blessing of the fifth house built under the Snehaveedu project in Vannappuram, Kerala. This initiative, which provides homes for the needy, has been carried out with the support of various organizations, including the Syro Malabar Mission New Zealand and Syro Malabar Catholic Association (SMCA) Eastern Region, Saudi Arabia.
The Snehaveedu project began with the construction of two houses near Angamaly and two in the landslide-affected area of Koottickal. The fifth house in Vannappuram was specifically built for a deserving family in the parish. Work on the house started on September 19, 2024, and after 90 days, it was blessed on December 19.
The blessing ceremony was led by Rev. Fr. Shiju Mullasseril CSsR, Vicar Provincial of the Liguori Province, Kerala, in the presence of the parish priest, sisters, neighbors, and representatives from SMCA Eastern Region, Saudi Arabia. Their presence added to the joy of the occasion. The project was guided by Fr. Jissoy Pendanam CSsR, Director of the Alphonsian Social Service Centre, with the support of a dedicated team including Fr. Wilson Thekkencherikunnel CSsR from Saudi Arabia.
The construction of this house was made possible through generous funding, with the first two houses supported by the Syro Malabar Mission New Zealand, and the fourth and fifth houses funded by SMCA Eastern Region, Saudi Arabia. The Snehaveedu project highlights the power of collaboration and social responsibility, transforming the lives of underprivileged families, one home at a time.
