Final Profession Preparation (Second Novitiate) at Varca, Goa, India

(Varca, Goa, India) On the 24th April the Final Profession Preparation Course for a month was inaugurated by Fr. Joseph Ivel Mendanha, C.Ss.R. (V. Provincial of Majella) at St. Gerard Majella Study House in Varca, Goa India in the V. Province of Majella. There were 10 students preparing for final vows this year; 3 students from the Bangalore Province, 2 students from the Liguori Province and 5 students from the V. Province of Majella. The course  ended on the 25th May 2016. The final professions took place in the first week of the month of June this year.

The month long course took up the important themes of Discipleship and Consecrated life, Redemptorist Community life and the Vows, Personal Integration and sexuality, Redemptorist History and Spirituality and the challenge for today as well as reflections on pastoral ministry by a senior confrere and a day of reflection with a group of lay collaborators to understand the vocation of the laity and our collaboration with the laity in the mission of the Church. The course ended with a 7 day retreat on the theme of ‘The Redemptorist today as a channel of Mercy.’

The Course is was held in the Philosophy House of the V. Province of Majella under the guidance of the Rector of the house, Fr. Theodore D’souza who is a member of the V. Provincial Council and under the direction of Fr. Henry Fernandes, C.Ss.R. a member of the V. Provincial Council and member of the Secretariat of Formation of the V. Province. Confreres from all the units of Bangalore, Liguori and Majella were participating as animators providing input together with a team of Lay Collaborators ‘Sangam’ with whom the V. Province of Majella Collaborates.
