(Goya, Argentina) – The Bishop of Goya, Mons. Adolfo Canecín, wishes to thank the educational community of the Parish School “La Rotonda” for the icon of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, patroness of the educational institution. This year marks the 150th anniversary of the icon delivered by Pope Pius IX to the Redemptorist missionaries, and is “a reason to thank God for everything He has done in all places where the Redemptorists have spread this devotion”.
It is ‘providential that the celebration of the Jubilee of Our Lady of Perpetual Help coincides with the extraordinary jubilee year of Mercy proclaimed by Pope Francis that began on December 8, 2015, Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of Mary, principal patron of the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer.
The School “La Rotonda”
At the initiative of the missionaries of the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer, from July 1959 to November 1960, this school has opened its doors as a support centre and a place of “follow up” which was called “post school”.
In 1961, Father Edmundo Tonda and a group of families of the Parish ‘San Roque’ and ‘San Jacinto de Goya’, with the aim of doing a pastoral ministry according to the needs of the neighbourhood, founded the Parish School “La Rotonda”.
It has now passed more than 50 years and still keeps alive the original spirit: to form authentic Christians, and committed citizens; thus expanding the community project of evangelization that began in 1929 with the arrival of the first Redemptorist missionaries in Goya.
