(Nigeria) The Redemptorist Vice Province of Nigeria just concluded with the Regional Assemblies within the Vice Province. These assemblies were done in the Five Regions of the Vice Province. The Assemblies began on the 23rd of October and ended on the 31st October 2018, and was anchored by Fr. Nicholas Ayouba C.Ss.R (General Consultor).
The total number of 87 confreres participated in the Regional Assemblies: 36 Confreres from the Lagos Region, 7 Confreres from the Benin Region, 17 Confreres from the Enugu Region, 7 Confreres from the Abuja Region, and 20 Confreres from the Ibadan Region.
The purpose for the Regional Assemblies was to begin the process of reconciliation within the Vice Province of Nigeria as directed by the General Government from her previous Extraordinary Vice Provincial Assembly held from June 11 to 15, 2018.
The Regional Assemblies started in the Lagos Region of the Vice Province on Tuesday the 23rd October 2018, held at the Satellite Town community, together with Ira-nla, Ikorodu, Amuwo-Odofin, Agboju, Agric, Ilufe, Ilemba, Tedi and Lusada communities all present at the Assembly.
Benin was on Thursday 25th October 2018, held at the Redemptorist community Benin City, with Ugheli and Port Harcourt communities present at the Assembly. On Friday 26th October 2018 was the Region Assembly at the Abuja Region held at the Abuja community, with Kaduna and Gboko communities present. Tuesday 30th October 2018, we had that of the Enugu Region, held at the Mater Domini community, with the Iva-Valley, Oba, and the Shrine communities all present. Finally, on Wednesday the 31st October 2018 was the Regional Assembly of the Ibadan Region held at Ligouri House community, with the Redeemer House and Alakia communities present.
The Regional Assemblies ended with the Mass of the Holy Redeemer presided over by Fr. Nicholas Ayouba C.Ss.R with the Vice Provincial Superior Fr. Joterio Joachim Aghoja C.Ss.R concelebrating with him at the Ligouri House Chapel.
The Regional Assemblies at all the Regions ended on the note of joy and celebrations with meals, as confreres were resolved at the personal, community and Vice-Provincial levels to bring about reconciliation in the Vice Province of Nigeria as directed by the General Government.
